Slinky, an indoor cat who had never been outside, somehow slipped out the back porch as the dog came or went. She ended up in a tree in the backyard and spent one long night at about 40 feet up. She was very scared and cried constantly through the entire rescue. At times I thought she was going to jump, but I was glad I could earn her trust (but not before she climbed higher in the tree to get away from me). When she could go no higher she finally let me get close enough to touch her. It wasn't until then that her cries of distress started to soften a little. When her family took her inside she didn't go for the food, water, or litter box - she went straight for her hiding spot under the bed.
